Hakuoh University offers short-term overseas summer programs during summer vacation for students interested in foreign languages and other cultures.
During the Indiana program, participants experienced American daily life and culture through homestays. At Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the partner university, the students attended lectures on English conversation, culture, and daily life, and deepened exchanges with local students on field trips. In their free time, the students spent time with their host families and new friends, enjoying various activities such as going out and watching movies.
Each faculty had a different program for the Hawaii study tour, with the School of Business Administration students touring a first-class hotel and the interior of the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Law students visited the Supreme Court and a law office, and Education students observed classes at a kindergarten and elementary school at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and through each activity they were exposed to Hawaii's culture, history, and society. At Leeward Community College, one of our partner schools, the students interacted with local students through activities such as making leis, hula, and trekking. During free time, they also experienced Hawaii as a tourist destination by going to see the sunrise early in the morning with local students.
