The Faculty of Education stresses learning of the “heart” and “body” to foster healthy individual growth. The faculty utilizes a multifaceted approach to analyze and discuss the challenges faced in the nursery-kindergarten, social welfare, education, health, and sports fields of society. For the next generation it is vital to systematically apply this knowledge of human development in a step-by-step manner. The Human Development Department is divided into the four majors of: Early Childhood Educational, Sports and Health Science, the English Education Major, and the Psychology Major.
Understanding children requires specialized knowledge and techniques, both theoretical and practical. This major focuses on the especially important growth period of 0 to 12 years of age, infancy through elementary school. It is based on the key idea of “education for a healthy mind” which encompasses the psychology, nursery-kindergarten, social welfare, and art specialties. As youngsters mature, their various actions demonstrate clear mental and physical changes which good educators must be sensitive to. Furthermore, modern children are surrounded by a complex and diverse social and family environment that require today's educators to change the content, methodology, and climate of their approaches to successfully respond to each child's potential and ability. Early Childhood Education majors master a balance of holistic and specialized knowledge in small classes to become able to lead and support future learners to become truly fulfilled human beings.
Following the steps of human development, sports and health are taught for the next generation systematically and in a multifaceted manner based on the key idea of “education for a healthy body” -including Physical Education and sports. Social interest in sports and health is rapidly spreading among sports enthusiasts, sport-related firms, the social need for expanded health-consciousness, and local organizations promoting sporting activities. The curriculum includes the fields of: sports rehabilitation, sports coaching, sports medicine, and dance. Thus sports and recreation are taught approaching human development from the point of view of the body, and following the needed steps for growth.
This major instills in students the necessary English ability and teaching skills to become an English teacher at the elementary/middle school/ high school level. Students who wish to find employment involving foreign cultures and the English language are also encouraged to enroll.
In an ever evolving society, it is exceedingly important to be able to comprehend the human mind and all of its emotions. This major teaches students the skills necessary to understand psychology, and the skills learned will enable students to find future employment across a variety of fields.
